Abilities UNlimited, Incorporated was founded in 1988 to provide professional disability related consulting services with an emphasis on compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Fair Housing Amendments Act (FHAA).
Abilities UNlimited has worked with numerous public and private sector clients to help them better understand how the ADA & FHAA influences their facilities, services, and programs. - Abilities UNlimited has recently entered into an agreement with Hughes Associates, Inc. of Broomfield, CO to participate in a unique project to assess the viability of the emergency notification system at Denver International Airport. The primary focus of this project is the effectiveness of the system for people who are deaf or hard of hearing, but is likely to encompass the concerns of people with other disabilities, as well.

On March 20, 2009, Bill Scott, was a panel presenter for the diversity seminar at the Arizona State Bar’s Minority Bar Convention at the Orange Tree Golf Resort in Scottsdale, AZ. with Lisa Loo, counsel for ASU, and Kathie Gummere, a private practice attorney.

On June 5 & 6, 2009 Bill Scott will chair the Annual Meeting of the Disability Access & Review Advisory Committee (DARAC) at the 2009 National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Conference & Expo in Chicago, IL. Bill will also be a panel presenter on the subject Something for Everyone: Considerations for Persons with Disabilities for the NFPA fire safety for people with disabilities task force education subcommittee.
- On January 15, 2009, Bill Scott was a guest presenter at the first year clinical students class at Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ. Speaking to an audience of approximately 700 students, Bill spoke on the topic, “Living with a Disability: A Personal Perspective”. The audience included first year medical, dental, pharmacy, physician assistant, podiatry, occupational therapy, cardiovascular perfusion, nurse anesthesia, and clinical psychology students. This presentation is part of their Interdisciplinary Healthcare course.
- On February 3-4, 2009, Bill Scott is scheduled to speak on a panel at the workshop on: “Emergency Preparedness for Persons with Disabilities and Special Needs” presented by ANSI Homeland Security Standards Panel (ANSI-HSSP). The workshop will be co-chaired by Hilary Styron, National Organization on Disability, and Allan B. Fraser, National Fire Protection Association, and will be held at the Kellogg Conference Hotel at Gallaudet University in Washington, DC. The topic of the panel discussion will be “What does the community of people with disabilities want and need, in terms of standards, to feel safe, protected and included?”
- Bill Scott is listed as faculty for the diversity seminar at the Arizona State Bar’s Minority Bar Convention on March 20, 2009, at the Orange Tree Golf Resort in Scottsdale, AZ. The seminar is titled, “You Said What?!” Bill will be part of a three-person panel, with Lisa Loo, counsel for ASU, and Kathie Gummere, an attorney from private practice who is with the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Committee of the State Bar.
