Since the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act in 1990, Abilities UNlimited, Inc. has been retained to assist local, county, and state governments and private sector businesses with a wide range of ADA compliance projects. These services include the interpretation of regulations, assessment of new construction and existing facilities, and establishment of an ADA assessment and compliance plan as it applies to the buildings, facilities, services, and functions. Examples of these services include the following types of activities:
State and Local Government Services
Provide interpretation of ADA Title II requirements
Conduct Architectural Site Plan Reviews of specified municipal buildings and facilities
Conduct field inspections and evaluations of existing facilities where public access is required as identified in ADA Title II.
Identify locations and numbers of facilities where public access is required.
Identify physical obstacles that impede accessibility to individuals with disabilities as specified in ADA Title II and any other applicable guidelines.
Summarize and compile assessment findings in a database.
Recommend method to be utilized to remove obstacles and provide accessible facilities.
Assist in estimation of projected costs for ADA modifications and revisions.
Recommend system for prioritization of efforts to eliminate any identified barriers.
Assist in the development of a schedule for implementing recommendations, if any, consistent with ADA Title II.
Development of an electronic database and reports for tracking program compliance issues.
Establish a database that interface with geographic information systems (GIS).
Assist with the completion of the ADA compliance report and Transition Plan
Work with staff, attend meetings, and make presentations.
